Characteristics
Semi-Soft Lamina is made of cortical bone of heterologous origin which undergoes a process of superficial semi-decalcification (50% vs Soft Lamina), nevertheless maintaining the typical consistency of the bone tissue from which it originates.
Handling
Semi-Soft Lamina can be shaped with sterile instruments until the desired size is reached, then it must be hydrated for 3/5 minutes in sterile physiological solution. Once it acquires the desired plasticity, it must be adapted to the grafting site.
Clinical information
Orbital floor 1,2 and wall reconstruction after trauma. Even though xenogenic bone graft provide structural support to the bony defect, these biomaterials are not indicated for use in load bearing situations, unless used in combination with appropriate osteosynthesis fixation.
